We are three nuclear families staying together in a house. Before this question comes to your mind I would like to answer “Yes we have a common kitchen”. We live together, we also cook together. One of my co-house mate and friend Shobitha has been doing a course on farming and food. The other day she learned about raw food recipes and one of the most interesting one which i liked was the Gourd Salad.
Initially I was apprehensive about eating raw gourd. But when I prepared the salad, I loved it. It was yummie. I was excited that we can eat most of the vegetable in its raw form. I had tried cauliflower, ladies finger, cabbage , beans in raw form but had never thought that we could eat all the gourds also. Life has become super easy when we can eat most of the vegetable in raw form.
This has made to the list of my favourite salads. You can use any of the gourds – Bottle gourd, Ridge Gourd, Snake Gourd, Ash Gourd or Chow Chow. I tried with bottle gourd and ridge gourd which was available at home that time.
Raw Gourd Salad
Chop the gourds, tomatoes and onion in small pieces. Chop green chillies. Mix and then add lemon and ginger juice. Add salt to taste.
I loved this salad. 🙂
